ot Blindsided Again

ome time ago Baron Von Lodge was the head of a small country near Switzerland known as Lilliland.
The Baron and his chief advisor, Professor Hamblin, always discussed the possibility of an invasion by another country at war. Since Lilliland, like Switzerland, was a neutral country, plans had to be in place in case one warring country chased the troops of another warring country into Lilliland. Since Lilliland wanted no part of any war, plans had to be prepared to be ready for any event.
Professor Hamblin reminded the Baron that many of his ancestors were faced with the same potential problem and they came up with a plan of counter attack, not with soldiers and guns, but with Mother Nature.
Since all the roads that came into Lilliland passed through the Alpine Mountain pass, heavy snow could stop any advancing army. The train tunnel could be blocked with a heavy snowfall. The snowfall could be in the form of a controlled avalanche. The ski patrol would detonate several carefully placed charges on a site in the Alpine Mountains. When the charges exploded, the controlled avalanche would block all of the entrances to Lilliland. It would take many weeks for the snow to melt and bring everything back to normal. In the meantime, the warring parties would take their war back to their own countries.
The plan had yet to be tried and hopefully it would never be used. A controlled avalanche could be greatly underestimated and cause considerable damage in Lilliland if it got out of control. The plan was a good one yet to be tried.
In the meantime, all the roads at Lilliland’s borders were clearly marked and guards were stationed there to inform people that they were entering Lilliland and to remind them of the rules that were in effect in the country.
Since there were no guns allowed in Lilliland, hunters must go elsewhere or have their guns checked at the border.
“Being blindsided is not planning for the unexpected,” concluded Professor Hamblin’s remarks on the subject.
