ome time ago Baron Von Lodge was the head of a small country near Switzerland known as Lilliland.
The Baron’s estranged cousin, Rob, came up in once in a while in family conversations. While Ron was a member of the royal family of Lilliland, no one ever knew about him.
Cousin Ron left Lilliland some years ago for college studies and told the Baron that he was not planning on returning to Lilliland. He said that he was just no cut out for royal life and royal family expectations. He just wanted to wander around Europe and engage in writing, in general.
Ron had some lean years and a man named Mr. Wilson befriended him and invited him to stay at his home for a while. Mr. Wilson inherited a lot of money from a relative that was in the junk and scrap business. Mr. Wilson was a fine person but thought he could never get over the embarrassment of people knowing how he received his wealth. He wished that he were a member of some royal family.
Mr. Wilson asked Ron if there was a way that he could acquire his royal title, even if he was an obscure cousin of the Baron of a small country that many people of the world never heard of.
The cousin said that royal titles could not be bought and the only way was through marriage. Mr. Wilson thought for a while, then said that if Ron married his girlfriend, Anna, then divorced her with the understanding that Anna could keep her royal title, then marry Mr. Wilson, he would then have a royal title.
Ron wasn’t sure it would work but he was willing to give it a try. An attorney was contacted and the marriage to Anna was performed. Since Ron was a single person and never previously married, he had little to lose.
But when Ron met Anna, he found her to be attractive and very charming. He felt that he was in love for the first time in his life. Ron wanted this marriage to last a little longer than the divorce agreement of just a few weeks. He asked the lawyer to stall the divorce for some time while he enjoyed his days and nights with Anna. Finally, after a year, Anna agreed to meet with the lawyer and Mr. Wilson at a ski resort in Switzerland to discuss the divorce and wedding plans to Mr. Wilson so that he could receive his royal title.
A skiing accident occurred at the resort and Mr. Wilson was killed. Ron agreed to accept nothing from Mr. Wilson until the title was bestowed on him. Anna was grief stricken and returned to Ron with the news. Ron asked Anna, still his wife, if she would consider him worthy and to stay married. Anna said yes.
