ight an Alpine Chapel Candle

ome time ago Baron Von Lodge was the head of a small country near Switzerland known as Lilliland.

Over the years, Professor Hamblin had been an inspiration to the Baron and his fiancée, Lady Angela of Alpine Castle.

One of the things that the Professor believed in was the individual’s ability to solve his own problems. People tended to think that their problems should be solved in a flash instead of thinking about the various choices of solutions to the problem and choose the best for all concerned.

To get people with problems thinking about several possible solutions for a period of time instead of doing the first thing that comes to mind, the results over the long haul would be improved.

For that reason, the Professor encouraged people of all faiths to stop and go to the Alpine Chapel and light a candle. There were several rows of candles but the individual need only select one. “Sit quietly for a few minutes watching the candle’s flame burn peacefully. Then ask the Creator for guidance in addressing your problem.”

The act of going to a peaceful chapel and lighting a single candle seems to help people think more clearly about their situations.

One example of a situation was that of a single young man who asked a single young woman for a social date to go to an event. The girl turned him down flatly. He felt sad and dejected. After this happened a few more times, he began to lose his self-confidence. He took a moment to go light a candle in the Alpine Chapel where he hoped to have some new, reflective thoughts.

After being rejected by several women for social dates, he began to think that there was something wrong with him. But later, a new revelation dawned on him that maybe the girls were missing a great time by not accepting the date.

So he tried again with a new air of confidence and it worked. The lighting of the candle might or might not have helped, but we will never know for sure. But success comes when confidence is there as well.
