ome time ago Baron Von Lodge was the head of a small country near Switzerland known as Lilliland.

It was strictly against the law in Lilliland to hunt and kill any wild animals in the Alpine Mountains or forests. The rangers saw to the strict enforcement of that law. A mountain spirit known as Patricia the Archangel seemed to watch over the wildlife so that it thrived and each generation could see and enjoy it.

The only shooting of wildlife in Lilliland was with a camera. Every year in the late fall and early winter Lilliland had a celebration known as Winterfest. It lasted from late November until the first week in January. The Winterfest activities were highlighted with a big parade down the center of town.

The feature of the parade was the first float honoring Patricia the Archangel. One year there was a special surprise on that lead float. The featured star of the first float was a cat named David. That cat was thought to be a distant relative of the original cat family that lived with Patricia the Archangel. That made David a very special cat in all of Lilliland.

The celebration and the parade symbolized the true spirit of Lilliland and that spirit was to live in harmony with nature. Do not kill things in nature, but nurture them for their survival for the present and the future.

Baron Von Lodge and Lady Angela of Alpine Castle were the honorary chairmen of the Winterfest activities. Professor Hamblin was also one of the most enthusiastic celebrants of the activities.

It seemed that each year some outside group wanted to build a hunting lodge in the mountains and they had to be advised about the laws of the land. The Professor was convinced that too many outside people thought that they could move in and do anything they wanted. They didn’t seem to want to bother with checking on the rules and regulations of the area in which they wished to reside. That attitude, unfortunately, got them into a lot of trouble right from the start. Can you imagine someone wanting to build a hunting lodge in an area that does not allow hunting?

That was basically what the parade and Winterfest were all about. Come to Lilliland and enjoy yourself with plenty of activities and no person, pet or wildlife creature will be harmed.

Winterfest, with its star, David, was a big treat for all.
