ather Ramon's Visit

ome time ago Baron Von Lodge was the head of a small country near Switzerland known as Lilliland.

The Baron’s chief advisor had his own advisor. He was a former university professor back in England and that is where they met. His name was Professor Hamilton and he retired to Lilliland because he liked to fish on Lilliland Lake. Professor Hamblin and Professor Hamilton would talk for hours about almost anything, even riddles. Professor Hamilton said that the one riddle that he was not sure about was told to him by Father Ramon many years ago. He wished that he could contact Father Ramon to ask him for the answer to the riddle.

The riddle was, “What flies very high without any wings? What is very bright without a flame? And what wants your dreams to come true?” That was the riddle.

Professor Hamblin decided to see if he could locate Father Ramon by using the diplomatic channels throughout the world that Lilliland had available. It would take some time but Professor Hamblin thought it could be accomplished, if for no other reason but to solve the riddle.

In the meantime, Professor Hamilton began looking very weak and took ill. His physicians said that he seemed to be losing interest in life and it began to take a toll on his body.

Professor Hamblin asked Professor Hamilton if there was anything that he needed. He said that there was nothing except to find and ask Father Ramon to come and give him his last rites soon.

Father Ramon was located while he was visiting in Spain and was asked to come to Lilliland to see his long lost friend, Professor Hamilton. Father Ramon replied that he was on his way to Lilliland as soon as possible.

Father Ramon entered Professor Hamilton’s room and was recognized and greeted very warmly just like old lost friends.

Within a few minutes Professor Hamilton asked Father Ramon about the riddle. Father Ramon said it was just an old childhood riddle without much purpose, but for the record the answer was that it was a shooting star soaring across the heavens and when it was seen, one would make a wish on it. Professor Hamilton smiled and sat up and said, “I am beginning to feel much better because you are here, Father Ramon.”

Father Ramon said, “Good, let’s go fishing tomorrow.” Professor Hamilton said that the fishing gear was in his closet and he would be ready tomorrow morning.

And they went fishing and everyone felt that Professor Hamilton was his old self again. Professor Hamblin was very pleased for his friend.
