aron's Castle Burns
|
ome time ago Baron Von Lodge was the head of a small country near Switzerland known as Lilliland.
The Baron found that Lilliland Castle was a chilly, drafty fortress-type building. Over the years he tried to make it more comfortable and certainly warmer in the winter. The cold winter winds coming off the large Castle Lake seemed to penetrate the walls and make it a very cold and breezy building, even with all the fireplaces working at full capacity.
The castle renovations in the past were to keep the outside of the building looking the same but to make the inside less drafty.
The Baron decided on more renovations. “I want the castle to look less like a fortress and more like a manor house. We don’t need thick walls to keep the enemy out. We are a peaceful, neutral country and all we need the walls for is to support the rooms and keep winter out.”
Many renovation designs were submitted but the Baron did not like any of them because they still looked like a cold castle. But he reluctantly gave in to the one design that came closest to his concept. “After all, it is really my home and I want it to be friendly and comfortable.”
The renovations began and when they were almost half way complete, a careless worker left a fireplace that was not vented properly enclosed and the building caught fire.
The castle was so badly burned that the Baron and his staff had to move into Alpine Castle at Lady Angela’s insistence. Lady Angela said that two good things may have come out of the terrible tragedy. “First, you can now build the manor house that you desire, and second, you may enjoy temporarily living in Alpine Castle with me.”
Many months later, the Baron’s new manor house was finally completed. It was more friendly, had more windows, and less drafty than the previous structure.
Although now that it was the Baron’s manor house, the name of Lilliland Castle was still retained as a link to the past.
