NTERPOL Saves the Day

ome time ago Baron Von Lodge was the head of a small country near Switzerland known as Lilliland.

The Baron was dead and his cremated ashes were thrown into Castle Lake, as his will had requested. That is, so everyone was supposed to think.

Professor Hamblin was in ancestral home in Cornwall, England, when a knock on the door brought the greatest surprise as to whom his guest was. It was none other than Baron Von Lodge. Professor Hamblin said that he had some serious explaining to do about his fake death. The Baron said that INTERPOL police contacted him about two months earlier to warn him that a plan to assassinate him by poisoning had been intercepted. INTERPOL wanted to catch the assassin and asked the Baron to participate in a plan to catch him.

The Baron would go to his medical examination in Switzerland as scheduled but an impersonator who was a skilled INTERPOL operative would take the Baron’s place when he returned to Lilliland. His nurse, Susan, was also a secret agent from INTERPOL. They would go to Lilliland pretending to be the Baron and wait for the assassin to make his move. When he did he was caught and arrested.

Since the plot included Lady Angela of Alpine Castle, she would have to act as though the Baron had broken off their engagement so that she would be out of harm’s way. Professor would retire to Cornwall to also be out of harm’s way. Many of the security guards were sent on vacation for a few weeks and were replaced by more INTERPOL agents.

Baron Von Lodge and Professor Hamblin returned to Lilliland to tell Lady Angela about the plan and so she could see for herself that the Baron was very much alive and deeply concerned for her personal safety.

Soon the police returned to their headquarters with their captured criminal.

The Baron asked the Professor why he was the target for assassination? The Professor said without knowing all the details, it was generally for wealth and power.
