ot Really, Aunt Millie

ome time ago Baron Von Lodge was the head of a small country near Switzerland known as Lilliland.

Lady Angela lived in Alpine Castle, the large manor house home of her parents and her parents’ parents for many generations. The castle was located on the large Castle Lake and within three miles of the Baron’s castle, now more rather like an estate than a castle.

When Lady Angela, the Baron’s fiancée, was growing up as a very young child, her mother’s sister and friend would visit Alpine Castle for the summer. They played an important part in young Angela’s life. The mother’s sister was Lady Martha and her friend’s name was Millie. Young Angela called Millie “Aunt Millie,” and sometimes “Lady Aunt Millie” although she was just a very dear friend of Aunt Martha’s.

When Lady Martha was taken ill suddenly while visiting a jungle in a foreign location, she could not be saved and she died. Lady Angela asked Millie to keep visiting Alpine Castle as she enjoyed the time that they spent together.

As time went by and Lady Angela became a young woman and Millie was alone in a rest home, she was asked to come and stay at Alpine Castle.

While Lady Aunt Millie was not her real aunt, Angela felt that she was close enough to Millie to give her the honorary title of Lady Aunt Millie.

Alpine Castle had thirty guest rooms that were rarely used and there was always room for Lady Aunt Millie.

One of the favorite activities that Millie liked was riding in a horse-drawn open carriage along the Castle Lake shoreline with Lady Angela. Millie was well informed on world events and kept Lady Angela up-to-date on activities in other parts of the world that might have some bearing on Lilliland. Aunt Millie liked to talk with tourists to see what they liked best about their visits and what suggestions they may have to make visitors even more comfortable during their stay.

Lady Angela often comments to the Baron how fortunate she was to have her Lady Aunt Millie by her side.
