ome time ago Baron Von Lodge was the head of a small country near Switzerland known as Lilliland.
Lilliland was a somewhat typical small country with a few eccentric people, among them was a personality known affectionately as Joe Plaid.
Joe was otherwise as normal a person as you would want to meet except that Joe loved plaid. Joe had plaid just about everything. He had a large assortment of plaid ties, shirts, jackets, and even pants, all of different plaid designs and colors. He had special bathroom towels made of different plaid designs found mostly in Scotland. The seats of his car had special plaid seat covers and the blanket for his pet dog was in plaid. His mailbox was painted in a plaid design. All, again, were in different plaid designs and colors.
One time, while visiting Scotland, he met a very attractive young woman who was planning on coming to Lilliland. When she arrived in Lilliland, Joe began to date her and later they became romantically involved. Finally, they became engaged to be married. He name was Jennifer.
The wedding date was set but Joe learned from her that she would only marry him if he wore only the plaid designs of her Scottish family. He reluctantly said yes, but as the wedding day drew closer, Joe kept postponing the actual wedding date. Joe just could not part with all of his plaid things. His fiancée said that only the traditional black watch plaid was appropriate decoration for their home.
Joe came up with an alternative plan. It was to move all the plaid things out of the house into a place that would become a plaid museum for everyone to see.
The people liked visiting the plaid museum that Joe had established. But he began to spend more and more time at the museum and not with Jennifer, the woman he planned to marry very soon.
One thing was always very certain, that they would meet for Sunday dinner at the restaurant in the Lilliland Hotel. It was Joe’s favorite place because it had plaid tablecloths and the waitresses wore plaid outfits.
But, sadly, one Sunday Jennifer did not show up at the restaurant and a note was sent in her place. The note said that regretfully she had a change of heart and was breaking off the engagement to him. She was returning to her parents in Scotland.
After a few months of sorrow, Joe met a nice young lady who, like Joe, had a house full of plaid items. They hit it off from the start and were very happy together in their plaid home.
