hristine Stanfield Visits Again
|
ome time ago Baron Von Lodge was the head of a small country near Switzerland known as Lilliland.
It was quite common for people who visited Lilliland to enjoy skiing in the mountains and the friendliness of the people and return again and again.
It was a somewhat different story with Christine Stanfield, a very wealthy and beautiful woman from London, Paris and the Bahamas. What made her different was that each time she visited Lilliland, she met with Professor Hamblin, the Baron’s chief advisor, to claim that she was a member of the Lilliland royal family.
After many such meetings with the Professor over several years, usually during the height of the ski season, the story was wearing thin. This latest time she claimed to have a secret map of a pirate’s treasure chest that she inherited with an old book of family records. The map was from a man named Howard Von Lodge Stanfield. Howard, as a young boy, was captured while sailing in the Bahamas, by a bunch of pirates. Howard was never heard from again. The old book of family records had been given to Christine Stanfield many years later by a distant cousin. The map that she found made no sense since it appeared to be in some type of pirate code. But the shoreline drawn on the map looked very much like the shoreline of Castle Lake.
When Christine showed the map to Professor Hamblin, he immediately told the Baron who decided to explore the map further to see if it was genuine. The map showed an underwater cave near the shoreline that was supposed to be the location of the pirates’ treasure. This still seemed to be a far-fetched notion that the pirate map was genuine, the underwater cave would still be there after many years, and that there was a treasure, still untouched, to be found in the cave. But the Baron and the Professor decided to send a search party to see if any aspect of the map was true.
Sure enough, the map was indeed accurate, the underwater cave was located and the pirates’ treasure chest was found. The Baron and the Professor gave the treasure to Christine and said that they doubted her claim in the past, but this was the proof along with a letter in the treasure chest authenticating that it was from Howard Von Lodge Stanfield and to be given to his heirs.
The Baron said that as a relative and member of the royal family, she was entitled to be known as Lady Christine. Lady Christine gave the treasure to the Baron and asked that it be used for the mountain ski patrol to aid them in their fine work.
All Lady Christine wanted was to know was that she had a family somewhere, which turned out to be in Lilliland among the royal family.
