illiland Mystique
|
aron Von Lodge was the head of a small country known as Lilliland near Switzerland. The time was the early 1900s.
The Baron and his fiancée, Lady Angela of Alpine Castle, with their chief advisor, Professor Hamblin, formerly of Cambridge University, often discussed the history of Lilliland.
There were many fables about the early years of any country, but the royal family of Lilliland was mindful to carefully prepare the future leaders of the country with as much knowledge and wisdom as they could. The castle library was carefully developed to rival that of a university.
The ancestors believed that knowledge was power, not guns. That was why guns were not allowed in Lilliland and like neighboring Switzerland, was a neutral country. They did not believe in war as a solution to the problems of the region or the world. They believed that all war did was frighten cows and cripple the hearts of young men.
Early leaders of Lilliland spoke with many seafaring captains about the world. The results convinced the leaders that while the world seemed large, it was mostly water and ice. The sea captains saw the world as about 70 percent water and that left only 30 percent land. When high mountains and barren deserts were subtracted as being uninhabitable, that left considerably less than 30 percent for civilization.
In addition to the sea captains, the early leaders of Lilliland invited world travelers to discuss the world. Most agreed that the world was very much like the Garden of Eden. The real Garden of Eden must have been a very special place, because the world of today is so beautiful.
The mystique of Lilliland was the love and desire to preserve the great beauty of nature. Contemporary man talked about building great cities, and yet, when the cities are built, where does contemporary man go for his true enjoyment? To the sea and the mountains. In other words, man goes back to the beauty of nature.
It was hard to find anything more important than getting a good education, all Lilliland’s leaders agreed. The mystique of Lilliland was simply truly loving the beauty of nature. All of the Barons of Lilliland were taught this, and believed in keeping Lilliland beautiful.
