he Strange Mountain Man
|
aron Von Lodge was the head of a small country known as Lilliland near Switzerland. The time was the early 1900s.
Lilliland was in the Alpine mountains and a large section of the mountain was uncharted. Baron Von Lodge kept hearing stories of a large strange man who roamed around the unexplored regions of the mountains of Lilliland.
When these reports kept coming in to the Baron's attention, he decided to find out for certain if the reports were true or false. Was it really a man, or a bear, or a deer, or just someone's wild imagination, or possibly a foolish prank?
The Baron assembled the best mountain explorers to investigate the region of the mountain where the sightings of the strange mountain man were coming from.
For many days the explorers climbed up and down the mountains and found nothing. Then a sighting was made and fresh foot prints in the snow led to a small secret cave where the mountain man was found.
It turned out that a visiting English explorer had a bad fall on the rocks and hit his head. He lost his memory of who he was. He had wandered around the mountain aimlessly for days trying to find some help. The mountain explorers recognized him as Sir Hillary Arthur, the famous English explorer.
With the help of the Baron and medical attention Sir Arthur got better. He visited with the Baron in Lilliland Castle for a week until he was able to return to England.
The Baron and Sir Arthur became good friends in the years to come.
