aron Von Lodge was the head of a small country known as Lilliland near Switzerland. The time was the early 1900s.
People came from all over the world to see and participate in the Lilliland Flower Show each summer. People from many countries would raise and enter their own flowers to be shown and judged.
The judges for the flower show were world renowned for their expertise and their love of flowers. To be selected a judge was considered an extreme honor among the experts.
The winner received worldwide recognition for his/her achievement and quite a large sum of money.
Anyone who attended the flower show soon realized that raising award-winning flowers was a long labor of love and dedication. It required a year of planning and preparation, but the results were so magnificent and spectacular that no matter what amount of hard work was involved the results were always very special and well worth it.
Each year before the planning began, a theme for the flower show was announced. One particular year the theme was a rainbow. Everywhere you looked there were flowers arranged in rainbows in all sizes and shapes, circles, pyramids, squares; it was a sight to behold.
A few weeks after the flower show the Baron was talking with Lady Angela of Alpine Castle who coordinated the event. The Baron commented that it seemed to him when strangers met for the first time at a flower show they were very polite and friendly. Flowers seemed to have a wonderful effect on people and brought them together in the nicest of ways.
Lady Angela smiled at the Baron and said that she agreed.
