ive Brothers

aron Von Lodge was the head of a small country known as Lilliland near Switzerland. The time was the early 1900s.

The Five Brothers Tumbling Act was passing through Lilliland going from one performance venue in France on their way to perform in Italy. Lilliland was an ideal stopover between bookings. While practicing in the gym at the Lilliland Grand Hotel, one of the brothers slipped and hurt his back. He was taken to the hospital and informed that the injury was very serious and he could not go on for at least six weeks.

For the next few days while waiting for their hospitalized brother to get well, the four remaining boys decided to take up some hobbies. They decided to learn horseback riding in the morning and take musical lessons in the afternoon. They wanted to learn how to sing and play the guitar. After the second week they were doing well with the horseback riding since they were all very agile from doing tumbling. Everyone liked the horses and it was a fun way to pass the time while the other brother was getting better.

The afternoon guitar and singing lessons were not going as well until a Texas cowboy who was staying in the hotel gave them some sheet music for real western cowboy tunes. Then everything started working for them.

The Baron heard of the Five Brothers Tumbling Act and the problems that they had so he arranged for the four brothers to have their lessons in horseback riding at the Lilliland Castle stables.

Bad news came to the group when news arrived that the hospitalized brother's back was so badly damaged that he would have to give up tumbling for good. But the good news followed when the other brothers began to combine their horseback riding skills with their guitar and singing skills. They decided to continue their tour not as the Five Brothers Tumbling Act but as the Singing Cowboys.

The Baron thought they were off to a good start in their new career. When the fifth brother left the hospital he quickly learned horseback riding. He had learned some guitar playing techniques while he was still in the hospital. He had learned to sing as a child in church so that was something he had already achieved.

The Baron suggested that their next step might be to spend some time on a dude ranch in the United States in the Texas to fine-tune their act. If the Texans liked their singing then the world would be ready for the Singing Cowboys.
